Oh ya... living in Edmonton, Canada… We really got to embrace the full impact of global warming a few weeks ago when it went down to -50°C. Balmy.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I agree with absolutely everything you said in this article. I really do believe that the recent push by most government health agencies towards a plant-based or vegan diet is to create a society of sick, easily manipulated people.
Anthony. As always I appreciate how meticulous you are in documenting your positions. Your work sets a standard that few even try to reach. Keep up the good work! - Richard Schuller
Hi Anthony, your work caused me to question my cherished low-carb beliefs a while ago and I actually trust you more than any other health writer. I really appreciate that you take the time to investigate issues properly. Everything else you write I agree with 100% and I love your no-BS style. To find you saying what I was already thinking about the covid scam in 2020 was such a relief (albeit not unexpected). Thank you, from a long-time fan.
Vegan or not, as a species we need to address the massive suffering we inflict on our fellow Earthlings. Veganism is a diet-focused way of trying to withdraw from some of the worst of what we do. But of course, anyone on the grid of Industrial Civ is complicit in much interspecies violence. I mean, a frozen vegan burger wrapped in cardboard (felled trees, including birdhomes et cet) and brought to town by truck (intercity highway system, cutting off migratory routes, plus all that roadkill, et cet) isn't vegan afterall. I'm vegan, willing to take a dietary hit, even, as a gesture of fellowship with animals. But I sometimes think it's just that a symbolic gesture.
thanks for commenting and I must applaud you for exhibiting an awareness that is clearly lacking in many other vegans, who prefer to mindlessly recite feel-good slogans about ethics, compassion and saving the planet.
We all need to look at what we can earnestly and realistically do to minimize our footprints, rather than virtue signal like a pack of woke peacocks.
The galling hypocrisy of the EV crowd is a case in point, people who think they are being environmentally-friendly while African kids trudge around waist deep in toxic sludge fossicking for the extra cobalt and lithium now needed to power their virtue-signalmobiles.
I've only read 2 articles and I'm already hooked. I'm a retired herbalist so people often assume I'm vegan or vegetarian and I am so far from that it's laughable. Well done. Loved it.
To begin., I apologize that you received my response twice. When I hit send, the software froze. After waiting a few minutes, believing it hadn’t gone through , I hit send again and it showed as sent.
My complement to your work particularly in debunking the Convid democide was sincere.
My response to your anti-vegan screed was 100% accurate.
As for my comparison to meat eating as an actual holocaust, almost 750 MILLION young, innocent chickens were cruelly killed to supply chicken wings just for Super Bowl Sunday! Let alone the billions of land animals and trillions of sea creatures who are killed every year to indulge the appetites of you carnists. If that isn’t a real holocaust then I don’t know what is.
Regarding you comments about PETA:
They do a great deal of tremendous work on behalf of innocent beings but inevitably in a large organization there are a handful of extremists who do reprehensible things.
Regarding B12 in wild ‘game’: we were discussing factory farmed animals who have NO B12 in their flesh other than what is supplemented in their feed and injections. Vitamin B12 comes from soil bacteria. Wild animals forage and as a result consume soil which is where they get their B12. Since less that .0000001… percent of people eat wild meat, your reference to it is intentionally misleading and irrelevant to what we were discussing.
You want references to support my claims. There are thousands of them, I’ll give you a list of documentaries which cite many scientific studies;
The YouTube channel of ‘Mic the Vegan’. He has a masters in public health. His channel has scores of videos on a wide range of vegan-related subjects. Each video has many scientific research studies from accredited sources.
Documentaries, many of which are on Netflix:
What the Health
Cowspiracy
Seaspiracy
Forks Over Knives
Earthlings
Dominion
Dairy is Scary
The Game Changers - in this documentary, Arnold Schwarzenegger (among many other elite athletes), extols the benefits of a whole food plant-based diet for optimal health and fitness
My reference to ‘Twinkie, Doritos and Diet Coke’ vegans, was to distinguish junk food vegans (who are usually overweight and unhealthy and usually become anti vegans), with vegans who eat whole natural foods. This type of vegan lifestyle results in optimal health and longevity at all stages of life.
You, like all meat , dairy, egg and fish eaters have a clear bias against the evidence to justify your tastebuds; with no regard for the innocent lives you are helping to destroy.
You can vainly lampoon me and those like me but it only reflects badly on you.
I hope you will take substantial
Time to view the resources I listed above (and there are thousands more).
I would have no hesitation to debate you on any vegan issue you propose.
Again I commend your exposure of the Convid fraud,
Please post my response publicly so your readership can view and evaluate these resources for themselves.
My skin is just fine, Sheldon. Nowhere did I infer you were a Nazi or privy to mass murder, as you did to me in your email. Nowhere did I threaten you, curse you, or call for others to join me in a stalking campaign against you, like your'ethical' compatriot Harley Johnstone. Nowhere did I threaten to rip your legs off, like your 'compassionate' strongman competitor buddy Patrik Baboumian did to Joe Rogan.
And you can be rest assured I won't show up to your place of business with a dozen other placard-waving wingnuts yelling, screaming and accosting innocent customers - like your fellow vegan activists are wont to do.
It is you militant vegans that have thin skin. You have no qualms about yelling your beliefs to everyone who will listen, but when someone responds to your untenable nonsense with cold hard facts and figures, you all quickly go into tantrum mode. Your movement has a major mental health issue. It is plagued with dishonesty, immaturity, runaway irrationality and, often, outright sociopathy.
All I did above was exercise my right of reply. I systematically addressed all your points, often linking to scientific studies. I stated why you were wrong, and provided both research and empirical examples to further explain why.
Such a process employs the faculties of logic and reason, which seem to be foreign entities to you militant vegans.
Like the gentleman from Vegan Dispatch, you assured me there were plenty of studies to back your assertions. So plentiful was this research, you claimed, that my assertions were "easily refuted."
I drew my response to a close by inviting you to only reply if you could present this valid scientific evidence
You've gone ahead and responded, but have you presented even one single scientific study?
Heck no.
Instead, you tell me to go watch a bunch of garbage propaganda films masquerading as documentaries.
"Dairy is Scary"?!?
Come on Sheldon, seriously.
I have already debunked the shamelessly dishonest Game Changers:
"My response to your anti-vegan screed was 100% accurate."
Sure. That's why you cannot present even a single scientific study to back anything you've said.
"Vitamin B12 comes from soil bacteria. Wild animals forage and as a result consume soil which is where they get their B12."
You again display your ignorance. Herbivorous animals have B12-producing bacteria in their stomachs that synthesize B12. So they eat plants and synthesize bioavailable B12 internally, which is why their meat contains bioavailable B12 - contrary to what you said in your original disjointed diatribe.
And as Michael points out, most red meat in Australia is not factory farmed but overwhelmingly grass-fed. In fact, the marbled grain-fed stuff is such a novelty it commands a high-price and is preferentially shipped to places like Japan and China:
Of the satanic PETA, you write: "They do a great deal of tremendous work on behalf of innocent beings but inevitably in a large organization there are a handful of extremists who do reprehensible things."
As with everything you say, wrong. PETA is an inherently hateful, twisted organization run by an extremist called Ingrid Newkirk. Here are some whistleblowers who explain how PETA's mass pet-killing operation is not the work of a handful of renegades, but the organization's official and vigorously inculcated policy:
So one hand you rant about animal genocide, on the other you defend and make excuses for an evil outfit that really DOES murder animals.
You have some major cognitive issues you need to address, Sheldon.
"I would have no hesitation to debate you on any vegan issue you propose."
I'll debate you Sheldon. But because it will clearly be a monumental waste of time, a fruitless exercise in arguing with the mentally incoherent, a head-banging endeavour involving talking to someone less open to reason than a brick wall, we'll need to set a time limit and I want a very generous up-front payment to reimburse the one or 2 hours of precious time that I will never get back.
No dough, no go. And It will be expensive. Maybe consider spending the money on counselling. Or a nice succulent, B12-rich steak, hehehe.
I wonder about the grass-fed / factory farm distinction. I do appreciate that farming can take a variety of forms, and we can think of them on a spectrum of exploitation, at one end of which, the best end, there is actual "husbandry" where humans and the herds they tend to are in a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relation.
But as far as I know, free-range herding still employs practices like mass castration, separation of bonded animals [e.g. mother/child in Dairy], destruction of males in egg operations.. And, all the while, genetic engineering for our own benefit, not the animal's - if only the slow engineering of selective breeding.
Forgot to add that Vegans should never watch the videos by the Physiologist Bart Kay.
He has a ton of videos exposing their vapid lies and misreading of studies.
And he goes through the actual studies that some(rare) vegans actually dare to cite..and surprise surprise...they have nothing....Veganism is a modern misanthropic religion embraced mostly by wealthy white people to support the big corporations to produce slop for the slaves...Facts="being thin skinned". :)
The vegan activists I know aren't misanthropic. Their empathy for animals is continuous with their empathy for marginalized humans. They've usually been involved in other human-centered causes alongside their animal activism.
But yeah, something resembling misanthropy can happen when you've encountered massive animal suffering at our farms and labs and slaughterhouses, and then encountered a general human indifference to it all. The fact is, a lot of humans just aren't that bothered by animals suffering.
I agree that the animal welfare movement can be co-opted - like almost any movement! - to serve global corporate interests. Veganism as a transition diet to cheap lab-slop they'll fill the global troughs with for the plebes, and all that. . .I'm not surprised if that's part of the dark Play here.
Oh ya... living in Edmonton, Canada… We really got to embrace the full impact of global warming a few weeks ago when it went down to -50°C. Balmy.

Intellectual honesty is a rare bird. Thanks for this.

Anthony robustly takes apart your claims and thats now called "being thin skinned"
Ok
And your evidence free rant should be called ?
Most Australians who eat anything but chicken are not eating factory farmed animals.
The same trick is used for water use..Only for factory farmed animals..
So instead of just showing the references you're trying to get Anthony to watch Documentaries?
Seriously.
You should know these papers/facts..since you don't..thats just terrible.
I note The game changers and forks over knives have been debunked so many times yet your google searches have failed to find these?
Hint..never use this 2 documentaries to try and prove a point..its just cringe if you do..
Here is the game changers being torn up by a....vegan

"You want references to support my claims. There are thousands of them"
So you list none.
Can you see the problem?
"You can vainly lampoon me and those like me but it only reflects badly on you."
Is there anyone else that can answer for you..?
You are the worst "defender" of Veganism I have seen in years.
"Please post my response publicly so your readership can view and evaluate these resources for themselves."
He has.
You should be embarrassed.
